West LA’s all-you-can-eat bonanza Union Buffet appears unable to return following a dreaded "remodel" not long ago.

Diners first noticed the slowdown a few months back when the restaurant was sold to new ownership, with plans to rehab the space and bring in a new chef to cover the extensive menu, which claims more than 150 different dishes. Alas, the planned return now seems to be nothing more than a steam table mirage, as continued check-ins have yielded no activity that would seem to indicate a return to life.

A call to the restaurant ends with a disconnected number, and there’s been no review activity on Yelp since the beginning of the year. With little else to go on and a storefront that’s shuttered up tight, it seems that Union Buffet is down for good. Luckily, there are a few other options for markedly better (if noticeably pricier) Chinese food not far away.
