Minh Phan, the hardworking chef behind Hollywood's Field Trip restaurant, is shuttering her market-driven venture in favor of a new location for her increasingly popular Porridge & Puffs pop-up concept.

Field Trip, tucked around the corner from Vine near the home base of the Hollywood Farmers Market, hoped to trade on the bounty of produce that arrived at their doorstep every weekend, by crafting market-forward dishes and all-day pastries to suit the casual Hollywood walking crowds. Unfortunately, the high rents, parking problems, and slightly out-of-the-way location seem to have done the bright, airy place in.

Still, as Phan tells the LA Times, she's no worse for the wear — her Porridge & Puffs pop-ups have been doing very well, and so the search is on for a more easterly location that better suits the needs of that particular concept. Jonathan Gold himself enjoyed the off-beat occasional dinners held at Field Trip, and so there's hope that with the right details surrounding the pop-up, Phan's phenomenal cooking can shine on a brighter stage again soon.
