It's a sweets overhaul for the Golden State team.

Nicole Rucker is beginning to take charge over at Cofax on Fairfax. The well-known pie champion and overall awesome baker recently departed from Gjusta in Venice, only to land with the Golden State team to help them raise the level of their on-site desserts, at Cofax and beyond.

To begin with, Rucker last weekend unveiled her own line of doughnuts at Cofax (complete with new bakery case) to some seriously hungry fans, who practically bought the place out by mid-morning.

She’s also been rotating through options like sticky buns, when the desire strikes, and will be expanding even further as time goes on with snacks like churro-flavored caramel corn and home run pies, which are filled hand pies that have been glazed like a doughnut. They’re like those old Hostess fruit pies you could buy for $1 years ago, but on a much, much better scale.

Over at Bludso’s, Rucker is keeping things within the BBQ theme. She’ll be launching not only a revamped version of their existing banana pudding and peach cobbler, but will also start making chocolate chess pie. The first round is available for Mother’s Day, but after that it’s by-the-slice only at the restaurant, or via call-ahead oder for a full pie.

With the recent unveiling of ICDC not far away, the intersection of Fairfax and Beverly is suddenly turning into quite a destination for doughnuts.
