After Partner Split, Brilliantshine "Rebrands" as Divey Back Bar

New, 2 comments

Brilliantshine turns into an affordable dive.

Well that was fast. After news that Brilliantshine shuttered because of a partner split, the charming eatery is now known as Back Bar. The downgrade will be a dive with bar food and any type of cocktail for $10, with a promotion including a shot and a beer for $13, which is pretty reasonable for Santa Monica.

Remember that Brilliantshine was supposed to stick around for a few weeks before all the dust settled, but it seems that partner Jerry Baker couldn't wait to relieve Julian Cox and Josh Goldman of their duties.

As for the new menu, think jerk chicken wings, pastrami sandwiches, chicken tinga quesadillas, sea bass taquitos, and churros, to name a few. With the limited menu and lack of specialty cocktails, it will be interesting to see if it can live up to its $14,000 gross monthly rent.

Renee's once did well as a dive, so maybe Back Bar will follow in its footsteps. No word on what Julian Cox and Josh Goldman will be up to next.
