What's Up With This Mysterious 120 Seat Restaurant Coming to Sunset Junction?

Details, anyone?

Farley Elliott is the Senior Editor at Eater LA and the author of Los Angeles Street Food: A History From Tamaleros to Taco Trucks. He covers restaurants in every form, from breaking news to the culture, people, and history that surrounds LA's dining landscape.

It looks as though Sunset Junction is set to get even cooler in the coming months, with the addition of a brand new 120-seat restaurant.

The Eastsider has a few more scant details on the space in question, which sits right on Sunset Blvd. next to three-year-old drink and dine spot The Black Cat; but for the most part, the place is still a bit of a mystery. The location is well-known: it’s the long-abandoned former laundry that shares a building with The Black Cat. And there are also details on the potential build-out, which is said to include 60 indoor and 60 outdoor seats. Unfortunately, that’s about it.

The Eastsider does go on to say that paperwork filed with the Planning Department shows that the applicants are hoping for an ABC license for both on-site and takeaway alcohol sales. But the business requesting the license, one Mixed Company LLC, is largely a ghost. It’s not the same LLC that owns The Black Cat (that would be Idiot Holdings LLC), there’s no pending or active ABC license yet for the space at all, and that name — Mixed Company LLC — isn't registered with the state, it seems. So what gives?
