Though details are still relatively hard to come by, it seems that "Inauthentic Mexican" mini-chain Bull Taco is headed for a downtown arrival. A cryptic black and white post on their website hints at the fall 2015 arrival while providing no other details. Thankfully, it's not that much of a secret, as signage has already gone up at 203 South Broadway, right at the corner with 2nd Street.
The Bull Taco team, which was recently at LA Weekly’s Tacolandia festival, leans heavily on the SoCal aesthetic of skateboard, beachwear, cheap beer, and punk rock. They already have a colorful location, complete with a bar, in Monrovia, which coincides with other outposts further south in Oceanside, Del Mar, Encinitas and beyond.
Menu-wise, everything is broken down by your choice of protein, from carne asada to shrimp curry to the triple-threat option of shrimp, bacon, and chorizo. Those can be turned into tortas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas — you name it, with bowls, tater tot plates, and breakfast sandwiches mixed in for good measure.
For now, the location is totally papered over, but soon you should expect hanging skateboard decks and lots of colorful design elements popping up inside the fast casual space.
