Chad Colby Teams Up With Curtis Stone for Likely Hollywood Super-Restaurant

More news to come.

Farley Elliott is the Senior Editor at Eater LA and the author of Los Angeles Street Food: A History From Tamaleros to Taco Trucks. He covers restaurants in every form, from breaking news to the culture, people, and history that surrounds LA's dining landscape.

More big news out of the Chad Colby camp today on his unexpected departure from the restaurant he helped to found, Chi SPACCA. As the LA Times reports, Colby is making quite the switch, from working the stoves inside the Mozzaplex to operating a restaurant with none other than Curtis Stone.

Reached by email, Colby told the Times that there’s no animosity between himself and the B&B Hospitality / Mozza Restaurant Group honchos (Nancy Silverton, Joe Bastianich, Mario Batali in particular), just that it was time to move on from his "passion project."

Furthermore, Colby says that he’s teamed up with Maude’s Curtis Stone as well as Curtis’ brother Luke in hopes of bringing a new restaurant to Los Angeles. Stone doesn’t offer many more details, but there’s a better-than-even chance it’s going to be in Hollywood, considering Stone not long ago took over the space formerly inhabited by Mercantile.

What the concept will be or when it will drop is still anyone’s guess, but with Chad Colby on board there’s all likelihood that meat — lots of meat — will be involved.
