The Wooded Hollow is Apparently Brilliantshine's Lackluster Replacement in Santa Monica

They're seriously using a cheap white vinyl sign.

Well, the world now knows at least a little bit more about the replacement for Brilliantshine in Santa Monica, which faced a particularly speedy downfall once the partnership behind the restaurant and cocktail bar fell apart.

Initially the follow-up was billed as a divey spot called Back Bar that would be more in the vein of the old Renee’s, which was the original longtime tenant on site prior to Brilliantshine. However, Toddrickallen now says that the space is called, pathetically interestingly enough, The Wooded Hollow. No word on how much Lord of the Rings memorabilia is hung on the walls inside.

There’s not much else to go on at the moment, though Toddrickallen notes in a cheeky update to his post that the chalkboard menu for the place is full of cheap-o bar staples like chicken quesadillas and fried mac & cheese balls, with hours from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly.

With the faded awning for Tinga still showing and a cheap vinyl banner displaying the new Wooded Hollow name, it’s an all-around tough look for what was (briefly) one of Santa Monica’s best options for cocktails and bar bites.
