The pricy beachside spot isn't fully closing though.

Just in time for summer, it seems that the ocean breezy Carbon Beach Club at Malibu Beach Inn is going under the knife for a much-needed change-up. According to Toddrickallen, the entire far Westside property along PCH recently came under new ownership, which means changes are in the works.

While details are scarce, there’s a good chance that more wine storage will be added for the restaurant, says the blogger. It’s definitely surprising that hasn’t happened by now, given the proclivity of those living in LA proper to head for the beach and wish to drink by the bottleful — plus all those folks staying on site, of course.

What’s less than likely is a total patio revamp; Malibu Beach Inn owns some prime lookin’-at-the-ocean real estate, and closing down the Carbon Beach patio (or firing up the bandsaws during weekend lunch service) can’t be good for business. Still, an overall scrubbing is much needed, especially with the recent restaurant flips in the Malibu market only brining more competition.

Malibu Beach Inn will stay open during construction, which should last, in one form or another, over most of the summer.
