Portland’s Salt & Straw has settled in nicely to the Los Angeles ice cream landscape, working the strong Larchmont foot traffic to push out hundreds of scoops a day. Now it seems they’re taking the same pedestrian-heavy model to Venice, or thereabouts.

Various tipsters mention that the Salt & Straw team has been eyeing different locations on the Westside since at least January, with Abbot Kinney an obvious front-runner. Flacks for the ice cream brand say the intel is a bit preliminary as no lease has been signed anywhere, but Venice proper is currently the strongest frontrunner for a small scoop shop out that way.

Salt & Straw has been vocal since they first landed in Los Angeles about plans to execute other storefronts around the city, so the move west makes all the sense in the world — especially given the high traffic that a strip like Abbot Kinney would command.
