Remember that long-awaited Top O’ the US Bank Tower restaurant that was first announced almost a year ago? At the time, the 71st floor eating space was undergoing part of a $50 million overhaul that would bring world-class views (and, presumably, a high-priced restaurant to match) to anyone who didn’t mind the vertigo. But since then, not much has gotten out — well, except for McCormick & Schmick’s; they got out from their lease at the base of the tower in March.
Details have been hard to come by since then, though there is that spiffy new video above, which gives a Superman-esque look at (mostly the exterior of the) US Bank tower, and offers a two-frame peek from the elevator at what could be an interior design for the possible restaurant tenant.
As for said tenant, a recent ABC license has popped up for the site, and gives a few details away. First, there’s no DBA name, but a recently-made corporation called 71 Above is now in control. Second, Emil Eyvazoff’s name is (literally) written all over the pending Type 47 permit — he’s the guy from Downtown Entertainment Group, responsible for bringing such luminary hotspots as Elevate Lounge to the masses.
So… after all that, it may not be a high-end, well-established brand after all, but rather something new and high volume. Think of this as the Rainbow Room, but with an LA sensibility. Until more details are known, just keep watching the video above on loop, dissecting it for clues.
