South Gate's Rincon Taurino Restaurant Space Goes Up in Flames

Luckily no one was hurt.

South Gate restaurant Rincon Taurino caught on fire over the weekend, with firefighters quickly battling back the 3:30 a.m. blaze. The space, along Firestone Boulevard, sits right across the street from an In-N-Out and just down the way from local coffee operators Tierra Mia.

Ownership told CBS over the weekend that the longtime sit-down restaurant space was currently being used as kitchen equipment storage for the four other Rincon Taurino restaurants spread across the Southland. That, combined with the early morning hour of the blaze, meant that no one was inside as crews extinguished the flames, and arson is being ruled out.

Still, it was an early morning weekend mess along Firestone Boulevard as responders knocked down the fire and cleaned up the aftermath; the restaurant site, across the street from one of the area’s busiest shopping centers, draws loads of weekend traffic.
