SILVER LAKE— Eastside Food Festival will be back in action on October 18, celebrating the food culture of LA's diverse eastside neighborhoods. The inaugural 2014 event brought out L&E Oyster Bar, Pine & Crane, Little Beast, and The Oinkster, so the yet-to-be announced culinary lineup looks extremely promising. The festival will take place at Mack Sennett Studios and will include panels, food demonstrations, and music.
DOWNTOWN— Tacolandia is this weekend, which means some of the best Mexican chefs from around the world are in town. Broken Spanish will host a pre-Tacolandia dinner in celebration of modern Mexican cuisine on June 5. Heavy-hitting chefs include Ray Garcia (Broken Spanish), Guillermo Gonzalez (Pangea), Benito Molina and Solange Muris (Manzanilla), Diego Hernandez (Corazon de Tierra), and Wes Avila (Guerrilla Tacos). The evening includes a DeLeon cocktail hour and dishes like goat cheese tamal with braised baby goat. More information and tickets here.
MANHATTAN BEACH— The South Bay dining scene is seriously improving its brunch game with the addition of Love & Salt starting this Saturday, June 6. Menu highlights include Nutella toast, smoked fish board with housemade bagels, wood oven baked eggs with grilled bread, crispy open-face porchetta sandwich with salsa verde, and, of course, stellar pastries from Chef de Cuisine/Pastry Chef Rebecca Merhej.
