FOH, a restaurant term for "front of the house," anticipates opening on July 23, taking the place of Mama's Italian Kitchen in the Financial District downtown. Featuring upscale Mexican cuisine, the menu will offer predominantly seasonal dishes with a global twist. Look forward to the huitlacoche (corn smut) prepared in ravioli, duck pibil, soft-shell crab sandwiches along with more traditional dishes like ceviches.
This is Chef Rodrigo Cabeza de Vaca's first venture in the U.S; he currently owns restaurants in Cabo San Lucas and Cabo San Jose. Additionally, Guerin Swing, who has designed many restaurants including Red O and h.wood, is setting up a comfortable atmosphere to indulge your south of the border cravings. With Downtown LA's recent surge of Mexican restaurants opening, like Broken Spanish, B.S Taqueria, and Tabachines Cocina, it will be interesting to see how FOH stands out from the rest.
