Burbank’s colorful Summer Buffalo Thai restaurant has quietly expanded West, with a new location set down right in the thick of Melrose in what was previously Kamin Thai Fusion. The former restaurant flirted with prosperity over the years but apparently couldn't hold on along the high-rent strip, even as nearby smoke.oil.salt. and the recently opened Maré find themselves thriving.

Inside, the Summer Buffalo folks have given the room a reclaimed wood look, which works well with the open kitchen and hip metal stools. Communal seating and some funky hanging lanterns help to round out the colorful space, while hanging menu boards display the available dishes.

Much like its sister Burbank location, Summer Buffalo on Melrose is aimed squarely at the fast casual set, without carrying so much for authenticity. There are saucy Thai wings, Isaan sausage appetizers and entrees that swing from pho to orange chicken to curries and noodles, with a handful of desserts to finish.

Current hours for Summer Buffalo Melrose run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
