Bar 53 Might Be the Swankiest New Place for Cocktails in West Hollywood

The Lore Group unleashes yet another drinking concept on Sunset Strip.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

The Lore Group seems to be on a tear on this rock & roll section of Sunset Blvd, what with Pearl's, Barrel Room, El Sushito, and now Bar 53 debuting on the block. The swanky digs done in conjunction with Playboy takes over the downstairs section of Pearl's. Inspired by the gentleman's clubs of yore, the dark room comes covered with plush leather banquettes and luxurious mid-century stylings. Of course, both men and women are now welcome to make this the swankiest new spot for drinks in West Hollywood.

The intimate lounge is a place to grab handcrafted cocktails and relive the Mad Men days. Intoxicants might include a Norma Desmond, mixing spiced rum with grand poppy liqueur and kumquats, or The Strip, shaking aged cachaca, mezcal, lemon juice and pineapple.

Of course, you can also grab a fancy champagne if you feel like celebrating, or full-on bottle service with some spicy watermelon or blackberry juice to mix in instead of your standard cranberry or orange (though you can have those as well).

Bar 53 officially opens on June 11.
