Apparently the Beverly Center has been holding out on everyone. The glitzy mall on La Cienega hasn’t had much of anything in the way of a proper food court — minus the standalone mozzarella mavens Obicà and a Wetzel’s Pretzels — for well over a year now, but a tipster writes in to say that, if you’re willing to look, there’s grub to be had.
All you’ve got to do is head over to the parking lot entrance near the Macy’s (that’s the one off San Vicente), and you’ll spot two or three daily food trucks right inside. Technically, the ongoing rotation is open to the public, but it’s certainly not being advertised as such — apparently the food is mostly meant for employees, since the only other lunch option is a pretzel on that side of the mall.
Rumor has it, the mall has gone so far as to specifically instruct employees not to mention the food trucks to customers, even if they’re openly looking for something to eat. It’s probably a smart move on their part — after all, it’s likely not in line with the Beverly Center brand to ask customers shopping for high-end jewelry to take the service elevator down to the parking lot for some stand-up-while-eating food.
If you’d like to see the day’s lineup of rotating trucks for yourself, food truck site Book That Truck has taken it upon themselves to draft a calendar of the month’s food options. Want to go today? You’ll have Angie’s Wieners and Haute Burger available, while later in the week comes The Lobos Truck, Border Grill, Kabob Kings and more.
Just don’t tell ‘em who sent ya.
