The Halal Guys have landed.
New York City's most famous Midtown street meat cart has plans to bring their first West Coast brick and mortar to Costa Mesa, with an extensive build-out that's currently well underway. The plan, for now, is to launch in mid-September, selling that famous chicken and rice in a fast casual location.
It’s been known for more than a year now that the cart guys would be expanding, eventually opening up locations across the country — and even internationally. One of their biggest franchise agreements was with Fransmart (who helped to bring Five Guys out west), notching a massive 50-unit deal to have halal street food take over Southern California.
Costa Mesa’s coup to bring the first Halal Guys to the greater LA area could prove to be pretty massive — there’s obviously a calling for their special brand of Middle Eastern fare, as evidenced by the imitators that began popping up with trucks on the street of Hollywood a year or so ago.
Follow along with the build-out process on the Halal Guys Facebook page, should you care to do so; you’ll mostly find photos of a Bristol Street location that’s deep in the construction process. You could also try to be one of the first 100 customers to enjoy the menu on the West Coast, by following along with their Instagram contest.
