Philz Coffee Starts Pouring on Hope Street Downtown Next Month

New, 2 comments

And they're hiring.

San Francisco darling Philz Coffee already enjoys a bustling location in Santa Monica, but has plans to really make their mark across Los Angeles with several more locations. Next up: Downtown, right in the bottom of the 8th and Hope luxury apartment building, which is likely to arrive mid-August.

Like their Westside counterpart, this new location is getting pushed into the base of a mixed-use building with a high traffic footprint, which should translate into lots of day-after-day sales from returning locals in the building upstairs, plus plenty of stop-in money coming from folks who just happen to be passing by.

As CEO Jacob Jaber explained to Eater last year, Philz believes it can still make room for itself in an increasingly crowded LA coffee scene, thanks in part to its strong team and its differentiation in the market (Philz is a pourover spot, not a place for espresso drinks). Ultimately, they’re hoping to land between five and ten stores locally in the first few years in Southern California.

The new Philz Facebook page for DTLA says that the plan is to soft-open by Tuesday, August 11, with hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Want to join the Philz team yourself? They’re currently hiring for baristas and shift leads.
