Silver Lake's Secret Chinese Delivery Quietly Opened Their Very Own Storefront

Last year, a little bit of news trickled out to LA Weekly about a top secret Chinese food delivery service operating in the Los Feliz/Silver Lake/ Echo Park area. Conveniently called Secret Chinese Delivery, the plan at the time was to bring heavily Americanized Chinese food straight to your door — General Tso’s Chicken, duck sauce, and all. Was the whole thing a bit of tongue-in-cheek irony? Perhaps. But the food was apparently also pretty tasty.

Fast forward a year or so, and it seems that Secret Chinese Delivery has opened up their own space, while continuing in the grand tradition of Chinese takeout as well. The evening-only location is actually attached to Silver Lake’s Gingergrass Vietnamese restaurant on Glendale Boulevard because, surprise surprise, it turns out they’re run by the same folks.

FoodGPS first made the semi-hidden discovery yesterday, though apparently the physical location has been quietly serving for a month or so. Inside, there’s a collection of small wooden tables to eat at and a TV overhead that plays old Chinese films, but otherwise the tiny room is meant for takeout only.

As for the menu, you can check it out here. There’s the usual run of egg rolls, chicken salads, orange chicken, and noodle dishes, but with the added benefit of no MSG, housemade sauces, and (mostly) organic ingredients.

Secret Chinese Delivery opens every evening at 5 p.m., running to 10 p.m. on weeknights and 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
