Inside Sweetgreen's Impeccable New Santa Monica Salad Shop, Opening August 18

New, 2 comments

The salad purveyor comes to ground zero for healthy food in LA.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Santa Monica is a part of town that knows its healthy food inside and out. Raw, vegan, gluten-free, paleo — it seems like everyone on the Westside adheres to some kind of special diet. Or, they're just omnivores.

Enter sweetgreen, which appeals to anyone who wants fresh, delectable produce that's mixed up in a fun, innovative way. This second LA location (the first was on West Third) features a large transparent walk-in, so you can see the quality of the ingredients, and an open kitchen so you can rest assured that everything here is being made from scratch.

Officially opening on August 18, the hours at this shop run 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Oh, and on opening day, 100% of proceeds will benefit the Garden School Foundation. Here's a peek at the late summer menu if you want to plan ahead.
