An LA two-fer from BA
Bon Appetit just announced their best new restaurants in the country and not one, but TWO restaurants from LA landed on it. Critic Andrew Knowlton named Petit Trois (#3), which Eater's own Bill Addison already declared one of the best new restaurants in the country, plus Gjusta (#2) as two of the top three in the country. It's always good to see a national publication recognize what LA is up to these days.
Wine me up, Scotty
The Greyhound is now offering a half off wine deal during happy hour, which means you can get H. Goutorbe champagne for a mere $40 a bottle from 4 to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
FYF goes vegetarian this Sunday
If you're heading out to FYF this weekend, which is basically LA's version of Coachella right in our own backyard, food organizer Nic Adler (On the Rox) tells Food is the New Rock that the festival's main stage (as in, all the vendors) are going vegetarian to commemorate Morrissey's performance.
Chef firepower at Maude
Looking ahead to Curtis Stone's upcoming partnership with Chad Colby, the former chi SPACCA chef is now helming the stoves (for a while) at Stone's Maude restaurant in Beverly Hills. In other Stone news, the hunky Australian chef did a little presentation yesterday in Hollywood for his upcoming Princess Cruises restaurant, which will be called Share by Curtis Stone. The concept is scheduled to launch inside the Ruby and Emerald Princess ships by December.
A Korean and a Frenchman walk into a bar...
The build out at Chris Oh and Stephane Bombet's upcoming Culver City restaurant has commenced. Gotta love how Bombet hashtagged #eeeeeats to try and get a re-gram...of a ladder.
Just buy your way into Clifton's
The LA Conservancy wants to get you into the upcoming Clifton's relaunch party, by letting you pay $125 for the dinner-and-drinks soiree to be held on September 21. The money goes to benefit the Conservancy, of course, which is tasked with keeping some of the city's best treasures from reaching the scrap heap.
Pizza by way of Reseda
The recently remodeled Humble Bee Bakery in Northridge is going through a growth spurt, pushing into Reseda with a new pizza concept called Humble Bee Pie. The evening-only pizza spot opens tomorrow and takes over a former Ameci's in a nondescript strip mall.
