Quietly enough, it looks as though Westwood’s Nik Nik Grill has decided to flip concepts. The 18 month old restaurant always had a soft spot for the healthier side of things, pushing an all-over-the-place menu of pizzas, Mexican food, and more; alas, the final Nik Nik days now seem to have come and gone.

In its place now sits The Kitchen @ Westwood (at symbol and all), a similarly-toned daytime operation situated under a glossy new green signboard. Open only as of this week, The Kitchen skews slightly more Mediterranean, with falafel plates and pita sandwiches, plus oddball options like döner kebab pizzas.

It’s a fast flip for the space, with Nik Nik at least appearing to still be up and running as of August 1, at least. But with The Kitchen @ Westwood, the team is now hoping to play into the Middle Eastern flavors more prominent in the area, while keeping costs low for that all-important UCLA student market.

The Kitchen keeps daily hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and is closed Sundays.
