The Tripel wants to give you a toy

Starting next Tuesday, Playa Del Rey’s popular The Tripel plans to start offering a $12 Backyard Burger lunch special, which includes a Brooke Williamson-designed burger, plus chips, pickle and cookie. Oh, and there’s a toy apparently thrown in for free, too, like those old paddleball things or whatever.

Is El Chavo changing in Los Feliz?

The Eastsider thinks so, penning a worrisome post now that the place has been sold off. New ABC paperwork certainly shows a changing of hands, which could mean any number of things — some of them worrisome, indeed.

Hollywood keeps having problems

Just when you thought Hollywood was getting a little better, here comes another terrible story about a night out at the club gone wrong. Last week, a single victim in his 20’s was found by police in front of the Cashmere nightclub on Hollywood Boulevard around 1 a.m., following a scuffle with unknown assailants inside. KTLA has more news on the unfortunate incident at the nightclub.

Just in time for ice cream

Wanderlust Creamery is up and running in Tarzana, just in time for the triple-digit heatwave currently canvassing the whole area. Working handmade creations, the new shop takes over a former Cold Stone Creamery right on Ventura Blvd.

Help Domaine LA get a liquor sales license

Easily one of the best wine shops in the city, help Domaine LA get a liquor license so you cocktailains and boozehounds can get some quality spirits at the shop in due time. A meeting with the zoning administrator comes on September 17, so voice your support.

An Aussie guest chef dinner

EP & LP is of course helmed by Aussie chef Louis Tikaram, which means there are lots of Southeast Asian and Australian flavors on the menu. But to really drive home the experience, Tikaram and his WeHo team are doing a collaboration dinner on September 7 with Dan Hong from Sydney and Jowett Yu from Hong Kong. Tickets for the $125 seven course dinner can be snagged via email.
