Well look at this — just a day or so after deciding that they’d need to shut down indefinitely, Fountain Valley’s overrun Naugles restaurant is bravely stepping back up to the plate with weekend-only hours.

The reborn fast food franchise has been inundated by nostalgic fans looking for a taste of the bean cups and cheese burritos that they haven’t been able to get for decades, in the process swamping the small cafe space that was only meant to act as a start-up kitchen for the brand. There have always been plans to move into a larger restaurant capable of handling crowds (and one with a drive-thru and round-the-clock hours, ideally), but the accelerated pace of everything Naugles-related has led to some hiccups in the process.

To help corral the lines, owner Christian Ziebarth announced last night that Naugles will only keep weekend hours at their Mt. Langley Avenue location until further notice. Saturday and Sunday times will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but considering food was already running out when they were keeping a daily schedule, a condensed window for service will likely mean it’s going to be even harder to get in and enjoy the reborn menu before all the ingredients are gone.

Still, if you’re willing to brave the epic lines for some classic Mexican fast food relief, you can do so starting this weekend.
