It looks like Superba Snack Bar has lost one of their own, with Eater Nashville’s news today that former executive chef Bryan Lee Weaver was heading East to help work up a new location of that city’s popular eatery Butcher and Bee.

Weaver, a former sous at at Superba dating back to its opening in 2012, was elevated to executive chef a while back once Jason Neroni left, but apparently had been thinking of making the jump to Nashville for some time — or at least since staging at Husk some time ago. Now the move is complete, with the chef plotting to take over the upscale casual spot in East Nashville, slated to open later this year.

In the vacuum left by Weaver, chef Sydney Hunter III’s arrival now seems to make a lot more sense. Hunter was a longtime LudoBites sous who had been of late keeping things going as chef de cuisine at Petit Trois, but took the opportunity earlier this month to hop on in Venice at Superba Snack Bar in the same role. Now with Weaver out, a push to executive chef seems all but likely. After all, he’s had a few weeks to settle into the space (and their new lunch menu) and certainly comes with enough pedigree to make the transition a smooth one.
