Sprudge has brewed up some more info on the forthcoming Arts District coffee shop The Wheelhouse, which first came on the radar back in July. The upcoming affair is the work of Tami and Chase Spenst, with an assist from all-around-town coffee guy Tyler Wells, who now runs Blacktop Coffee nearby.
Part bicycle shop, part vintage-inspired hangout, and part specialty coffee destination, The Wheelhouse seems to be aiming to hit every Arts District target possible. Right now, their 6th Street location is in build-out mode, but has plans to include a second floor mechanics shop for cyclists, as well as some patio space just beyond a few roll-up doors. Most of the coffee bar features are being handmade to boot, says Wells.
The ultimate plan is to offer unfussy coffee in a tall, sleek, Instagrammable environment that doubles as a community center of sorts, letting locals use the place as a creative place to come together. There will also be ongoing bicycle events and all sorts of stuff aimed at the cycling community.
The Wheelhouse is still putting everything together — and, judging by those Sprudge photos, it could be a while — but hopes to open up sometime later this fall.
