Alhambra’s famous 101 Noodle Express seems to be doing … not well, these days. Back in August, the well-known San Gabriel Valley stop was named in a post by the Whittier Daily News about health department shut-downs, and since then the restaurant has failed to reopen.
A search within the Health Department’s website confirms the closure, showing a series of violations both major and minor, from improperly washed hands to infestations. It’s the latter, an apparent roach overrun, that got the place shuttered with no timetable for returning.
Calls to the Alhambra location went unanswered, and no one at the Culver City outlet had details to share either. Yelpers have already taken to labeling the restaurant, known for their beef rolls and dan dan mian, as fully closed, even though they just spent big bucks on an interior overhaul only one year ago. In fact, the place’s page has become practically littered with one-star ‘reviews’ because of the above posted signage notifying guests of the infestation.
So what’s the future look like for 101 Noodle Express in Alhambra? That’s uncertain, but it does seem that most folks are hoping the place returns for a second act. Just when that might take place is up for debate.
