Behold Le Petit Paris, Downtown LA's New Crown Jewel Restaurant

Is there a better looking space in Downtown Los Angeles right now?

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

We already talked about the essentials on Le Petit Paris, so just soak in all the glory before it officially opens on September 18 (though if you peep by right now they might be soft-open). First off, the natural lighting is marvelous, probably some of the best in Downtown. The look is classically European, but doesn't feel stuffy or overly slick. Instead, it's just plain gorgeous, with luscious hues and inviting seating arrangements that cater to whatever reason you'll want to dine or hang out here.

Founded by David and Fanny Rolland, who have an outlet in Cannes, the cuisine goes from morning to evening with lobster eggs benedict and croque madames for breakfast to truffle pizza and meunière sole for dinner. Chefs Grellier Baptiste and Jeremie Cazes will execute the varied menu, which also boasts foie gras with exotic fruit chutney, pappardelles with fresh truffles, and rack of lamb with roasted thyme.

Placed in the former El Dorado Hotel (originally built in 1913), the stunning space by New Theme features two bars, a mezzanine level, outdoor patio, and main dining room. During the evenings, the upstairs will turn into a DJ-tuned lounge space that'll be perfect for mingling. Book tables by calling (213) 217 4445.
