The more southern side of Ocean Avenue has been slowly coming to life with dining options over the past several months, mostly as a set of mixed-use buildings begin to let their ground-floor restaurant spaces take over. The most notable is Brian Malarkey’s Herringbone, which arrived at the end of July, but now it looks like another long awaited project — eLOVate, a "vegan cafe and bar" — is ready to debut.

All signs point to tomorrow Thursday (a slight delay, according to reps) being the inaugural day for eLOVate, which is manned by former private chef Roberto Martin, who learned to cook in the vein of all things vegan from his most recent high-profile client, Ellen DeGeneres.

The planned juice house/bar/casual vegan restaurant is aiming for a mix of healthful dishes and comfort food classics. There’s a Handhelds section for jackfruit tacos and a black bean and farro burger, plus options for soups, salads, smoothies, and those near-ubiquitous rice bowls. Desserts, pressed juices, and a booze list that includes herbaceous cocktails, beers, and organic red and white wines helps to round out the place.

Daily hours are planned for 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
