Rumor has it, Din Tai Fung is coming to the South Bay, with a planned new location scheduled to arrive in Torrance following a massive shopping center upgrade in the area.

According to multiple reports — including a California Apparel News story from yesterday — the Taiwanese dumpling spot is making a move into the Del Amo Fashion Center, which in turn has announced a massive reconstruction project that will make the multi-functional space the largest shopping center in the Western United States.

There are other food options heading into the shopping center as well, but mostly on the fast casual or quick service takeaway side of things. Eater reached out for more info on the final version of what Din Tai Fung Torrance will look like, but those details are still coming together.

It’s a smart move for the brand, which loves taking over high-end retail spaces (see also: The Americana in Glendale), and could always use more of a presence in the outer reaches of Los Angeles. Come early 2016, Torrance diners eager for those soup dumplings won’t have to make the crawl to Arcadia or Glendale.
