It's Official: Clifton's Cafeteria Opens to Public on October 1

The Cifton’s Cafeteria comeback tour has officially founds its finish line: October 1. That’s the date sent around in an early A.M. email welcoming the long-dormant multi-story space back to life.

As everyone knows by now, it’s been a long, long, long road for the once-famed cafeteria, which closed four years ago after being purchased by Andrew Meieran. In all that time, rumors and innuendo prevailed, while targeted return dates came and went with little fanfare. At least we've all had photos to examine endlessly.

But of late, the place has been nearly fully operational, hosting massive dinners to benefit the LA Conservancy and even letting media in for a preview — even if some of those invited didn’t take kindly to the place’s new format. Management had been targeting a fully public reopening as of last Thursday, but that too blew away in favor of the new October 1 deadline.

That’s this coming Thursday, so plan accordingly. Doors will open at 11 a.m., and from there on out, expect the jello to flow like wine.
