Cheap, cheap Venice eats

Summer's just about over, but it's still busy on the Venice boardwalk. That's why Westsiders Lincoln & Rose dished out their list of 11 cheap eats on the summertime thoroughfare. Highlights include Poke-Poke, Espresso Yo'Self, and the famed Hinano Cafe.

In mole we trust

Over at LA Mag, Bill Esparza builds on his cred from last year's Tacopedia to work out a list of the city's best mole spots. The photos, of course, can't possibly do the spectacularly important dish justice.

A shutter at Sunset Plaza

And no, we're not talking about Le Clafoutis. This time it's Cravings, a ho-hum spot with a patio and little else going for it. Tipsters say the front door now has a "thank you for your patronage" sign taped up, and the website and phone number are both finito as well.

Prove that you're an Angeleno

It's in your best interest at Alma, where showing your city roots means free bubbly and their signature beignets.

Koslow heads to New York City

As if the Sqirl-to-NYC rumor mill hasn't been churning fast enough since... well, forever, now Koslow is back in the Big Apple cooking with Brooks Headley at Superiority Burger. Don't expect to see her smiling face around the Silver Lake shop for the next few days.

What's up with Baroo?

That's what the Times wanted to know, after Eater first reported the new Hollywood strip mall spot. Apparently the place has been plenty empty, but they're doing some very interesting stuff inside.
