There’s life yet for the long-awaited Trejo’s Tacos on La Brea. Housed in a former Taco Bell of all things, the restaurant has been in the works seemingly forever, but per the LA Times a soft opening could be in the works as early as next week.

The man himself, longtime menacing actor Danny Trejo, tells the Times that the menu will be a working rotation of about 10 tacos, which will include a few meatless options like black pepper tofu and fried avocado. There will also be healthy-eating options like kale salad and quinoa too, though elote and quesadillas will also make an appearance.

What’s more, Trejo says that everything will be made from scratch daily. That’s a usual claim, of course, though the team on site says not only is it true — they’ll be giving any nightly leftovers to local homeless shelters. Trejo and his team will also be looking to expand the concept sooner rather than later, apparently locking in a location in Hollywood near Big Wangs as the second outlet. Meanwhile, look for Trejo’s Tacos to start serving sometime next week.
