Looks like Glendale is getting an injection of tacos today, with the arrival of newcomer Epic Taco Shop on Verdugo Road. The simple northern takeaway stand (the place is basically in Montrose) set some soft-opening hours the past few days, but has earmarked today as the first official day of operation.

The colorful shop takes over the former Bountiful Bakery space, which had earned accolades but lasted only for a short time before shuttering. Now the place has been retrofitted with all manner of mostly late-90's alternative rock posters and handmade signage, with just a few tables inside for dine-in eating. Otherwise, you’ll want to order at the counter to take away.

Below is the opening menu for Epic, which should rotate pretty frequently. There are a couple of vegetarian options (yam, potato and green chile) as well as mashups like adobo chicken or poké, each served inside a tortilla. Quesadillas are also on offer, but that’s just about it.

Hours for Epic Taco Shop will run Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 8 p.m. for now. The space is small enough that there’s no need for beer and wine, but ownership says they’ll be looking for additional locations in the future that will have an alcohol focus.
