Trendy salad specialist Sweetgreen is working on taking over the LA market, and fast. The chain with locations in West Third, Santa Monica, and Hollywood with one on its way Downtown soon has announced that it will move its headquarters from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles, reports the Washington Post.

The LA office, set to open in February, will be the new digs for 30 employees, with the District office reducing from 45 employees to 15. It's a sensible step for the salad chain that has opened three restaurants in the area in less than a year, with plenty more to come.

The transcontinental move is arriving after a whopping $95 million in venture capital investment to date. Among those investors are culinary titans Danny Meyer (Union Square Hospitality Group) and chef Daniel Boulud (Daniel, NYC). It's quite an impressive feat for Sweetgreen co-founders Nicolas Jammet, Jonathan Neman, and Nathaniel Ru, who have now opened 39 locations across the country since opening the first in 2007, three months after the trio graduated from Georgetown.
