Halal Guys Hit the Heart of LA With Newest Location in Koreatown

This is going to be big.

Just when you thought The Halal Guys would be slowly creeping their way into the L.A. market, they turn around and jump in with both feet. Eater has learned exclusively that the midtown NYC street meat purveyors will be heading right into the heart of the city with their third Southern California location, setting up shop on Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown.

The move comes just weeks after the opening of their second outpost in Long Beach, with their first shop in Costa Mesa debuting last year. Both, of course, have drawn massive lines of transplants, tourists, and curious locals desperate to give the chicken and rice concept a shot.

The new address, at the corner of Wilshire and Mariposa, will be perhaps the most heavily-trafficked yet, and sits in the former Numero Uno pizza shop, with plenty of frontage to the street. Apparently they’ll have access to the building’s parking lot, which should help things too.

Signage for the shop should be going up this week, with a full build-out underway. Eventually the restaurant will have both indoor and outdoor seating, and will keep the same late-evening hours as its predecessors.

Look for the Koreatown location to be ready to debut by mid-April at the earliest, with more stores popping up throughout the Los Angeles area this year. When all is said and done, expect something in the neighborhood of 50 stores across the Southland.
