Joining a slew of other longtime neighborhood restaurants that have fallen at the hands of rising rents in Venice, La Fiesta Brava will serve its last meal this weekend. The popular Rose Avenue cheap eats Mexican spot has more than two decades of local service under its belt, but come Saturday there will be no more tacos, burritos, OR huevos rancheros. The Tasting Kitchen's owner Bruce Horwitz is slated to take over the space with another neighborhood friendly concept.
According to Yo! Venice, the Camarana family is throwing a final party this weekend. "We don’t want people to mourn the move," says one family member. "Saturday is a celebration." The shindig will include a mariachi band, raffle prizes (with money being donated to a local Venice charity), and of course lots of signature La Fiesta Brava food.
All is not lost, however, as the restaurant will move temporarily into the former Sauce space on Hampton Drive in Venice, as a way to stay in the neighborhood. Longer-term arrangements for a new restaurant space have not yet been finalized.
