LocoL is on the move
True to their original plans, it looks like LocoL's next move will be into Oakland. Daniel Patterson posted the news to Instagram earlier today, and it quickly took off. The address is apparently right next door to an existing Patterson restaurant, Plum Bar.
Yet another best new restaurant list
They're coming out of the woodwork still. This 'Best New Restaurant' round-up comes from Entertainment Voice, and lists notables like Simbal, Broken Spanish and Otium, while giving Redbird the top spot.
Look who got a fancy new awning
Son of a Gun is ready for all that rain, tweeting out today a photo of their brand new (and very blue) awning. With that new railing up too, it seems like only a matter if time before you can dine outside. What's next, brunch?!
Great under-$20 meals in LA
The Weekly has a nice rundown of nice dining options under the dreaded $20 mark, including The Bellwether, Love & Salt, Little Dom's, and Ledlow.
The Nashville hot chicken empire strikes back
LA hot chicken favorite Howlin' Rays has words for those KFC folks who just recently decided to start making Nashville hot chicken — and what's more, take it on the road. Here's the team's statement on the matter:
We think the addition of hot chicken to KFC's menu was inevitable. You only have to have it once to fall in love and it was only a matter of time before the big boys caught on. The way we see it, the more the merrier. We want people everywhere to discover the magic of Nashville Hot Chicken as we have. With that being said, let’s hope KFC does Nashville proud. There is a lot of history & culture around this dish and it is truly beloved by many people all over the world for good reason. Plus, us hot chicken fanatics only like it one way. Done proper, every time.
Oh, and if you're interested in seeing if Howlin' Rays can match heat levels with their words, they're holding a wings-only pop-up tonight in Chinatown.
Checking in on Bestia
LA Downtowner put together a fun lil' video about everyone's favorite, Bestia. You won't learn anything new, really, but it's fun watching Ori and Genevieve talk about their love for the place they spend almost all their time in. Check it out.
