Plan Check Shores Up Santa Monica Tomorrow With Seafood Galore

Santa Monica’s Plan Check is officially opening tomorrow, after first announcing their Westside expansion last summer.

The arrival of the company’s fourth location comes with a bit of new life, as the menu for the ocean-adjacent casual restaurant reflects much more than just burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. At this outpost on Ocean Avenue, guests can dine on Nashville-reminiscent hot fish sandwiches, full platters of seafood, and fries drenched in clam chowder and bacon. The full opening menu is below.

Otherwise it’s business as usual at this Plan Check, with craft beer and a full bar on offer — including a strong weekday happy hour from noon to 7 p.m. that will feature $6 old fashioneds. The Marshall Group is behind the build for this go-round, but expect much the same industrial look as every other Plan Check in the portfolio, too.

This outlet marks the first expansion since the loss of founding chef Ernesto Uchimura, who departed in March for parts unknown. He’s been rumored to be working on his own project elsewhere, but so far details have been scarce.

Plan Check Santa Monica opens tomorrow for lunch, keeping weekday hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. or later, with a Saturday opening at 10 a.m. to accommodate brunch, plus a 1 a.m. close time on Friday and Saturday.
