Da Kikokiko Is a Sunny Love Letter to Hawaii

A Top Chef alum's fourth concept arrives Friday in Playa Vista

Brooke Williamson, who also runs Hudson House, The Tripel, and Playa Provisions, brings her fourth Westside restaurant to sunny Playa Vista.

Step inside the sunny enclave that is Da Kikokiko, opening Friday in Playa Vista. The forthcoming Hawaiian-themed concept is the brainchild of Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts, and will feature everything from poke bowls to musubi, with lots of color thrown in for good measure.

The new Da Kikokiko lands at just the right time inside The Runway shopping complex in Playa Vista, as the tech business continues to boom out that way. Hawaiian fare is also very much in the momentary zeitgeist, with perhaps no more "of the moment" dish than raw fish over rice. Of course Spam and musubi have always had their adherents on the West Coast, at old school places like Rutt’s in Culver City. The full menu is below.

The tone at Da Kikokiko (which is Hawaiian for "the spot") will be decided different than others, thanks to a bright, welcoming room designed by Dust & Co. Light blue and sea foam green triangular tile fills the floor and low walls of the place, with the rest wrapped in light woods and just a hint of greenery. Since this is fast casual, expect stools for seating only, with some picnic tables out in front as well.

Da Kikokiko officially opens Friday at The Runway in Playa Vista, with hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and an extension to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday nights.
