Inside Intelligentsia's Spiffed Up New Look in Silver Lake

Still the perfectly-tiled coffee destination

Silver Lake’s iconic Intelligentsia Coffee is back up and running after a weeks-long remodel that forced the hip kids of Sunset Junction to go elsewhere for their morning fix. As of this AM, guests can once again walk through the blue-tiled wonderland for a chance to drink well and hang out.

So what’s new? Not much, in fact. The space has been mostly kept the same but given a renewed sheen, with brighter tile and a cleaner, less cluttered ordering counter. There are updated retail sections as well, but the most engaging new element seems to be the rethought outdoor seating. Since that’s where everyone normally wants to be, the company went ahead and put in a ton of bespoke furniture that matches the blue decor of the interior room.

The remodel comes at a perfect time for Intelligentsia, as the well-tread location on Sunset Boulevard faces stiff competition from elsewhere, including the still in-the-works La Colombe down the street.

As of today, Intelligentsia Silver Lake is back up and running in full, keeping the same early-to-late hours locals have come to love. Welcome back.
