Golden Road Brewing co-founder Tony Yanow is back at it, taking some of his hard-earned Anheuser-Busch money and using it to open a standalone craft beer brewpub space in the heart of the Valley.

The upcoming concept is still very much in the early stages (it doesn’t have a name yet, for example), but expect the project to eventually land on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. The building was for years operating under the banner Señor Fred, and more recently was briefly a Mexican seafood restaurant called Marlin & Ono. That place lasted less than a year, despite the resurgence that upscale coastal Mexican cuisine is having in Los Angeles right now.

Eater has learned that Yanow’s project will be a restaurant concept first and foremost, but will also include an on-site brewing operation that will turn out craft beers for diners there. Don’t expect anything on the scale of what Golden Road is doing, but regardless it’s nice to see longtime craft beer champion Yanow back in the mix with his own brew space — especially these days, when AB In-Bev and SABMiller are forming the largest macro beer conglomerate that the world has ever seen.

Expect a late spring, early summer opening for the unnamed Sherman Oaks space, with more details to come down the line.
