The second location of Michael Voltaggio’s casual concept couldn’t hold on

Sack Sandwiches, Top Chef winner Michael Voltaggio’s casual sandwich shop on the Sunset Strip, has closed its doors for the last time. The new concept that opened in February of this year was a reformatting of Voltaggio’s first fast casual outlet, ink.sack, with the intent of making the brand expandable.

When reached for comment, reps for the restaurant explain that Sack Sandwiches was probably a little too close to the Melrose original. As the two chef-driven sandwich specialists had hardly one mile between them, that seems to make quite a bit of sense.

While it’s sad to see the brightly designed space go, fans of Voltaggio’s excellent sandwiches like the popular Spanish godfather and cold fried chicken can get the lunchtime fare at the original Melrose ink.sack right next to his flagship restaurant, ink.
