Two Women Stabbed in Echo Park’s Gold Room

Another tragic crime takes place in a LA bar

Two women were stabbed early Sunday morning in Echo Park, reports The Eastsider. Thankfully, both women survived the attack, and the suspect was taken into custody after he returned to the bar wielding the knife.

The stabbing took place around 1:30 a.m. at the Gold Room, where, according to CBS LA, an intoxicated man approached the two women and stabbed one inside the bar before chasing and subsequently stabbing the other.

One victim was stabbed in the face while the other was stabbed in the torso. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. The suspect, who reportedly did not know the two women, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

It’s the latest incident in a string of restaurant and bar-related crimes that has plagued Los Angeles in the past month. Just last week, The Eastsider reported on the non-fatal police shooting of a man who flashed a gun in a fight outside Echo Park’s Short Stop Bar, with another shooting taking place in front of King Taco in Lincoln Heights. Earlier this month, three people were killed and twelve were injured in a shooting inside the unpermitted restaurant Dilly’s Jamaican Kitchen in West Adams.

It isn’t the only crime to take place in the Gold Room, either. Last year another stabbing took place in what some consider to be Echo Park’s last true dive bar.
