Looks like the end of the line for Ox & Son in Santa Monica, as a tipster writes in to say the 18-month old place is now fully papered over. So what’s next?

The seeming overnight shutter is confirmed by the restaurant’s own Facebook, which lists the place as permanently closed. A check of their OpenTable page reveals the same, but the most interesting find is on the restaurant’s website. Try to click over to oxandson.com, and you’ll be redirected to a site for Margo’s, an upcoming eatery bearing the same address as Ox & Son.

What’s more, the site lists the upcoming Margo’s as expecting a November debut, with a menu helmed by none other than chef Greg A. Daniels, who was most recently at Salt Air in Venice. A call to that restaurant confirms that Daniels is no longer involved, freeing him up to move into Santa Monica. As for opening Ox & Son chef Bradley Miller, he moved on from the Verging Hospitality team behind the restaurant back in July.

An email in from the Verging team says that Margo's will carry a Cal-Med feel, with plans to do brunch, lunch, and dinner in the coming months. Expect a mid-century vibe with an upscale classic attention to detail. If all goes well Margo's should arrive by mid-November.
