Ox & Son closed for a just a few weeks before its replacement opened in its place. Called Margo's, the newest restaurant from On The Verge Hospitality (Ox & Son, Art's Table) will open on Friday, November 18 less than one month after it was reported that Ox & Son had closed.
That speedy turnaround intimates that not much structurally has changed in the space, despite promises of a "dramatic transformation" by reps. The booths have been reupholstered a darker shade with the hopes of capturing a mid-century modern aesthetic.
Named after proprietor Mark Verge’s mother Margo, the restaurant will pay homage to the family’s long history in Santa Monica with a "California-modern" small plates menu that comes by way of executive chef Greg A. Daniels, formerly of Salt Air. Expect the requisite hamachi crudo with sprouted lentils, grilled octopus with chorizo, and lemon-crusted halibut with buttered cauliflower and black truffle. A classic cocktail program will be the work of Jordan Delp, previously of Tom Bergin’s and Dominick’s.
Margo's will be open daily for lunch and dinner with weekend brunch. Check out the full menu here.
