There’s a quiet new opening in South LA these days, as Banditos rides to life along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just below the Coliseum. The casual newcomer is the work of Anat Escher, the name behind places like Sandbox on Melrose, and the former Barbarella in Silver Lake.
With Banditos, the plan is to provide a colorful pre- and post-game stop for LA Rams fans making the trek to the Coliseum for games. That same notion holds true for USC games, big campus events, and anything else happening at the larger Exposition Park complex nearby.
Banditos is a simple operation, really, working a menu of tequilas in either shot, margarita, or "grande" options, while tacos come three to an order for $10 and include short rib with kimchi, brisket, and fried fish. Ultimately both the drinks lineup and food menu will expand, but for now the place is taking it easy with soft opening nights during events from now through the end of the year.

That is to say: you should call ahead to make sure the place is going to be open, as they continue to work out their timing surrounding all those sporting events. Otherwise, head over and relax with a cheap drink before making your way to the stadium. Or stay the whole time and relax in the vaguely Tex Mex location, complete with stuffed leather couches, plenty of TVs, and a Skeeball machine or two.
