An awesome new Bob’s Burgers art show pop-up is happening this week at Far East Plaza in Chinatown. Alvin Cailan, chef/owner of concept shop Unit 120, confirms that the mega-popular animated Fox show will indeed be doing a limited art show and burger collaboration run starting on December 1.
So what’s the plan? Burgers, of course. Cailan and restaurateur Jeremy Fall most recently used the window at Unit 120 to jumpstart Easy’s, a well-received burger concept that Fall has since planned to take into a brick and mortar space sometime down the line. Back then, Cailan was helping to create some of the best burgers in all of Los Angeles, but with this new Bob’s Burgers art show lineup, expect a ten-day run of one-off burgers done in conjunction with a number of different guest chefs. The dining room of the restaurant will be focused on the art show (so this won't be a full-on sit down Bob's Burgers restaurant, just some collaborations done alongside the artwork).
The pop-up burger boom is truly happening in Los Angeles at the moment, so it’s no surprise that a keen-eyed show like Bob’s Burgers would capitalize. Feastly favorite Hank & Frida’s Burger Time has been selling out their one-off burger nights, and the NoMad truck guys are still in the midst of some chicken burger collaboration with various big names around town. Even nearby Chinatown option Burgerlords has been doing one-off collaborations for a little while now.
The Bob’s Burgers team plans to host an exclusive art show inside Unit 120, the adjacent dining room space, during that entire run. While no chefs or artists have been confirmed just yet, things are shaping up fast. The whole thing starts up this Thursday, running through Saturday, December 10 in Chinatown.
Update: The Bob's Burgers team writes in to note specifically that this is a Bob's Burgers art show featuring work by Bob's Burgers artists, and will feature a small burger component rather than a full-on Bob's Burgers restaurant experience. So yes the focus will be on art, but there will also be collaboration burgers happening from the takeout window at Unit 120.
