Good news for fans of Cindy’s, the long-running retro diner in Eagle Rock. According to ownership, final inspections are underway with the city, and if all goes well you should be back inside and enjoying Paul Rosenbluh and Monique King’s cooking before Thanksgiving.
Right now, the timeline given by the county seems to have pushed the arrival by a week (they were supposed to open today), but that should be about it. Final installs have been happening furiously for the past several weeks — note the arrival of those all-important diner counters below — and now it’s on to the detail work while waiting for official sign-off.
For those unfamiliar, Cindy’s is a local diner legend in Eagle Rock, tucked onto a seemingly innocuous corner along Colorado Boulevard. But over the years car accidents have made a mess of the intersection, the latest coming half a year ago as a pickup truck plowed through the front of the restaurant in the middle of the night.
Since then it’s been full steam ahead to get the place ready to serve once again, and the Eagle Rock community is getting excited for their eventual return. Perennially considered one of the better places to brunch in the area (and with one seriously charming retro interior), it’s easy to see why locals love the place so much. And soon enough, we’ll all be able to sit down to another plate of pancakes at the counter.
